Have we been properly introduced?

Way back in September, I said I was going to do a 30 day blog exercise. So…now I’m doing it.   Hey! I never said WHEN I was going to do it!  Day One is: Introduce yourself.  Sure, I have an about page, but I don’t think I’ve ever properly introduced myself to you.

My name is Erica.  I’m 39 years old. My birthday is March 27. I appreciate gifts.

I have a younger brother. Well, I actually have an older brother, a younger sister, and another younger brother, but I didn’t meet them until my father died, so that’s a story for another day.  I grew up with ONE younger brother.  My parents split up when I was 5, I didn’t see my father again until I was 12, and the next (and last) time I saw him was at his funeral. I was 27.

My mother raised us well, all by herself.  I am a Momma’s GIRL.  I have lived two blocks away from her for the past 9 years, and that’s the way I like it.  My maternal grandfather was a Baptist minister and a very smart man.  I was raised in the church, and I thank God for it! Because of that, I’ve been singing since I was 3 years old.  Yes, they put me on a pew so that I could reach the microphone, and I sang solos at that age.  I was a soprano until I hit my twenties, then for some reason, my voice changed like a man, and I’ve been an alto for the past 15 years or so.  I like alto better.

Smart must run in the family, because I talked when I was 9 months old, walked a month later, and could read well when I was 2. NOBODY TAUGHT ME.  If I had been my mom, I would have been creeped out with a kid like that!  Alas, although I’m smart, I never lived up to my potential, as my mother would gladly tell you.  I coasted through school and did just enough to pass. I hated school. Don’t know why, but I did.

Since the Good Lord deposited the ability to read and the love of reading in me early, that’s how you could sum up who I am: I am a reader. I read almost anything.  I can’t count how many books I’ve read.  I am most comfortable if I can be curled up somewhere with good food and a good book (or nowadays my Nook).  I was never the kind of kid who liked the great outdoors. I wouldn’t go outside to play unless I was forced.  And I’m still that way, though a good cookout with good people can get me to stop acting like a hermit.

I’ve always been: the smart one, the fearless one, the good one, the big sister, the responsible one, the one to take charge, and the one everybody relies on. It’s just who I am. I’ve always been a big girl, but not as big now as I have been in the past.  Yay!  I never want to be skinny!  I love being a mom.  I love being a wife. My life isn’t what I imagined it might be, but I love it!

Things I love: Teaching Bible study, computers, theology, good music, chocolate, cheesecake, Rita’s, the Steelers.

Things I hate: Working, snow, ice, liars, hypocrites, false bible teachers, cheaters, chitterlings, liver, the Patriots.

Anything else you want to know? Feel free to ask!

    HILARIOUS!

I know good and well you didn't say you hate snow and ice, considering you live in western PA!

As for chitlins and liver … I'm with you on those!
