Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

I am getting old (at least I feel like it!)

Got my eyes examined a few weeks back. Got new contacts.  Found out I need reading glasses in addition to the contacts! I guess you can call me “EIGHT Eyes!”  Also, about a week ago, I was walking to the bowling alley with my husband, and stepped on a big, fat rusty nail!  Got a tetanus shot and antibiotics the next day, but I’m still limping around like an old lady!  I’m only 39! Give me a break!

I’m bald.

I wore my hair natural for 5 years. Then, in a few moments of boredom, I relaxed it in January.  Did it again in March. Finally realized that there was a reason I didn’t relax any more (well, more than one), and decided to go back to natural. I warned Mr. Day that he might come home one day and find that I had cut all the relaxer out of my hair.  That day came yesterday.  I have about an inch of hair now.  Couldn’t take it anymore!  However, you probably won’t see it until I’ve got at least 6 inches or more. Until then, I will continue to let Mr. Day pick out the wig for the month!

This weekend was boy central.

Not only was I surrounded with the normal males, but at various times, Mr. Day’s cousin and two nephews came to visit. Of course, this was the weekend when my momma, the R.N., decreed that because of my jacked up foot, I had to stay off of it. I had NO ESCAPE!  It’s a whole different experience when they all get together! Thank God I like football.

Summer won’t go away.

I love fall and spring. I could do without the other two seasons – especially summer. I hate to be hot. I hate humidity.  And this summer was a beast.  However, it’s been cooler for the past week. So I thought I was in the clear.  But no. Today and the next three days will be 90 degrees! Thankfully, I have a place to escape to in the next few evenings. I’m sick of being hot!

It’s a BOY thing

It’s a BOY thing

I have always wanted one child. ONE. I always wanted that ONE child to be a GIRL.

It seems that God had other plans. I gave birth to ONE child.  A BOY.   And when my husband came into my life, he brought all BOYS with him.  At first there were three, but the oldest went to live with his mom.  So now I have 2 more.

Boys.

I had visions of doing hair, playing with makeup, shopping for cute little clothes.  But it was not to be.

I have BOYS.

Boys who make ungodly messes, have to be told to take showers, and after a day of play, are sweaty and stinky.

Boys.

Boys are the most kind-hearted, sweet, joyful people.  Boys who make me laugh every day.  Boys who, when I think of them, bring a smile to my face.  Silly, crazy, adorable boys.

Boys.

Boys that make me cards, potholders, and pottery.  Boys who always think of me when they have a little money to go to the store.  Boys who like to sit up close to me and follow me wherever I go.

Boys.

Boys who don’t have hair that needs to be done or need accessories to match their outfits. Boys who are pretty much wash and go.

Boys.

I’m so glad that God doesn’t always give us what we want, but ALWAYS what we NEED.

Meet the family!

These are the menfolk who surround me…….

No explanation necessary.  :)

TJ Junior.  16.  Literally makes me laugh so hard that I can’t breathe.  Greets me every morning with a hug and a kiss.  Also thinks he can beat me, so we wrestle pretty much every day.  He hasn’t won yet! TJ lives with his mom now, but visits often.

Thing #1. 13.  Don’t worry, it’s an affectionate term. If you don’t know, read up on your Dr. Seuss! Hugs me all the time.  Follows me everywhere.  I should call him my shadow.  Artistic. Sweet. Outgoing.

Thing #2.   13. Kind of a loner.  Also artistic. Very quiet.  I have to go chase him for hugs.  Usually helps Junior wrestle me. He loses too!

Sweet Pea. 11. The youngest of the bunch and my biological child.  Smart, funny, silly. A video game pro.  He loves having brothers!
